AI Writing Policy

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Economic Innovation and Development (JEID), published by Global Scientific Hub.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools—including but not limited to large language models (LLMs), generative AI systems, and other advanced AI technologies—is increasingly integrated into research, writing, and analysis in economics and related social sciences. Global Scientific Hub recognizes the potential of AI tools to support research efficiency and insight while emphasizing academic integrity, transparency, reproducibility, and author accountability.

This policy is guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) position statement on Authorship and AI Tools and aligns with ethical standards expected by international indexing services, including Scopus.

1. Authorship and Accountability

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances. Authorship implies intellectual contribution, responsibility for content, and accountability for copyright and licensing agreements—functions AI tools cannot fulfill.

All human authors listed on a manuscript bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the work, including any sections, analyses, data, tables, figures, or interpretations generated or assisted by AI tools.

2. Permissible Use of AI Tools

AI tools may be used to support tasks such as language refinement, grammar correction, formatting, preliminary data analysis, or literature summarization, provided that such use does not replace scholarly judgment or compromise the validity of research findings.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, manipulate results, produce misleading analyses, or draw unsupported conclusions.

3. Disclosure and Transparency

Any use of AI tools during research, data analysis, or manuscript preparation must be clearly and transparently disclosed.

Disclosure should include:

  • The name and version of the AI tool used;
  • The purpose for which the tool was used;
  • The extent and nature of the AI tool’s contribution.

Such disclosure should appear in the Methods section, Acknowledgements, or in a dedicated AI Use Statement within the manuscript.

4. Ethical Use and Data Governance

Authors must ensure AI tools are used in compliance with ethical research standards and data governance policies. Confidential, proprietary, or sensitive datasets must not be shared with AI tools in violation of institutional, legal, or regulatory obligations.

All AI-assisted outputs must be carefully reviewed and validated by the authors to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and ethical compliance.

5. Editorial Oversight and Enforcement

The editors of the Journal of Economic Innovation and Development (JEID) and Global Scientific Hub reserve the right to request clarification regarding AI use and to take appropriate editorial action—including rejection, withdrawal, or retraction—if undisclosed, inappropriate, or unethical use of AI tools is identified at any stage of the publication process.

Failure to disclose AI use constitutes a breach of publication ethics and will be addressed according to COPE guidelines.

6. Policy Review

This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect developments in AI technologies, emerging ethical standards, and indexing requirements. Submission of a manuscript implies that the authors have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this policy.
