AI Writing Policy

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Data Science and Innovation (JDSI), published by Global Scientific Hub.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools—including but not limited to large language models (LLMs), machine learning systems, and other generative AI technologies—is increasingly integrated into data-driven research and scholarly writing. Global Scientific Hub recognizes the legitimate role of AI tools in supporting research efficiency and innovation while emphasizing the principles of research integrity, transparency, reproducibility, and author accountability.

This policy is informed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) position statement on Authorship and AI Tools and reflects ethical standards expected by international indexing databases, including Scopus.

1. Authorship and Accountability

Artificial intelligence tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances. Authorship requires intellectual contribution, accountability for the research content, and responsibility for copyright and licensing agreements—roles that AI tools cannot assume.

All listed human authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, reproducibility, and integrity of the manuscript, including any text, code, analyses, datasets, visualizations, or interpretations generated or assisted by AI tools.

2. Permissible Use of AI Tools

Authors may use AI tools to assist with legitimate research and writing tasks, such as language refinement, code optimization, exploratory data analysis, visualization support, or methodological assistance, provided that such use does not replace scholarly judgment or obscure methodological transparency.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, manipulate results, generate misleading analyses, or produce conclusions not supported by empirical evidence.

3. Disclosure and Transparency

Any use of AI tools during the research, analysis, coding, or manuscript preparation process must be clearly and transparently disclosed.

Disclosure must include:

  • The name and version of the AI tool or system used;
  • The specific purpose for which the tool was used;
  • The extent and nature of the AI tool’s contribution to the work.

This disclosure should be included in the Methods section, Acknowledgements, Code Availability Statement, or a dedicated AI Use Statement, as appropriate.

4. Ethical Use, Data Governance, and Reproducibility

Authors must ensure that AI tools are used in compliance with ethical research standards, data governance policies, and applicable legal requirements. Confidential, proprietary, or sensitive datasets must not be uploaded to AI tools in violation of data protection, institutional, or regulatory obligations.

Authors are responsible for verifying all AI-assisted outputs, including code, models, and analyses, to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and the absence of bias or ethical violations.

5. Editorial Oversight and Enforcement

The editors of the Journal of Data Science and Innovation (JDSI) and Global Scientific Hub reserve the right to request clarification regarding AI use and to take appropriate editorial action—including rejection, withdrawal, correction, or retraction—if undisclosed, inappropriate, or unethical use of AI tools is identified at any stage of the publication process.

Failure to disclose the use of AI tools constitutes a breach of publication ethics and will be addressed in accordance with COPE guidelines.

6. Policy Review

This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect advancements in AI technologies, evolving ethical standards, and indexing requirements. Submission of a manuscript implies that the authors have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this policy.
